Brewery Tours, Tastings + More!

Discover Czech beer in a different way, with the best tastings, tours and unique beer experiences in Prague!
As someone who grew up around pub culture, worked for a brewery, and has been to countless tours and tastings around the world, you could say I’m a bit of a beer enthusiast. So when it came to booking my birthday trip to Prague, beer was firmly on the agenda.
The Czech Republic has the highest per-capita beer consumption in the world, with brewing traditions dating back to the Middle Ages. From the historic Strahov Monastery brewery to the multitude of microbreweries popping up across the city, there are arguably few better places to enjoy a glass of the hoppy stuff.
Looking to elevate your Czech beer experience beyond a pint in the pub? Enjoy some of the best interactive, lively and unique beer experiences on offer in Prague.

Visit the Czech Beer Museum
If you want to learn more about the history of Czech beer, this museum’s a great place to start. From video presentations to 13th-century cellars, an experienced brewmaster shares the secrets of creating (and pouring) the perfect beer.
This museum’s not just about reading the displays, mind you. As well as a welcome beer and some tastings, you also get to bottle your very own beer at the end – including a customised label. Entry starts at just €22, which I feel’s a pretty good deal for the amount that’s included!
Tour the Staropramen Brewery
Visit the largest brewery in Prague on a self-guided tour!
Chances are, you’ll have encountered Staropramen, one of the most popular beers from the Czech Republic. I definitely drank plenty of pints of this one during my weekend trip to Prague!
On the Staropramen Brewery Tour, learn about the brewery’s history from 1869 up to the present day, and how their beer became one of the country’s most popular exports. Follow brewmaster Josef Paspa on a self-guided, interactive tour, to go behind the scenes about how Staropramen is made and distributed in Europe and around the world.
At the end of your tour, indulge in a beer tasting in the brewery taproom, as well as the option to have a traditional Czech meal (not included in the tour price).
Admission Fee: From €12.50pp.
Soak in a beer spa (with unlimited beer)
The tradition of the ‘beer bath’ dates back around 2000 years – although they probably didn’t have unlimited beer taps back then! Despite the name, it’s not actual beer you’re bathing in. On our Prague beer spa visit, we sunk into a warm and comforting bathtub filled with hops and yeast.
According to science, the ingredients in beer can have a positive effect on your skin and general wellbeing. Plus, the benefits of a hot bath are widely hailed as a relaxing, rejuvenating experience. Add a tap where we could pour our own unlimited beer? Sounds like my kinda heaven.
Jumping in a beer bath was a lovely and relaxing way to take a break from the packed streets of Prague’s Old Town – especially as it was my birthday! We chose Bernard Beer Spa for our experience, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

Learn to pour the perfect pint at the Pilsner Urquell Tapster Academy
The Pilsner Urquell Experience tells the story of the world’s first golden beer through an interactive, self-guided museum. High tech features bring new depths to your understanding of beer, engaging all your senses for an immersive experience.
At their Tapster Academy, expert tapsters will teach you to pour the perfect pint of Pilsner. You’ll learn how the iconic foam makes all the difference, pouring in the Hladinka, Šnyt and Mlíko styles. Discover how to keep beer fresh, what goes into a great-tasting beer, and most importantly, how to make every glass taste delicious.
At the end, you’ll get a certificate and personalised gift!
You can book the Tapster Academy Beer Pouring Experience on its own, or as a combo ticket with the Original Tour.
If you’re short on time/budget but still want the Pilsner Urquell experience, their Original Tour and Beer Tasting starts at €21pp.
Take a beer cruise
What’s better than a sightseeing cruise along the Vltava River?
A sightseeing cruise along the Vltava River with beer, obviously. Enjoy two included beers on a 45-minute trip along the river, past the iconic sights of the Old Town, Charles Bridge and Prague’s Castle District.
Have your beer delivered by train at Výtopna Railway Restaurant
Sadly, we didn’t go for this one as there weren’t enough veggie options for me. But, if you like meat and beer delivered in a unique way, this one’s for you.
At Výtopna Railway Restaurant, food and drink is delivered on a model train track that passes by your table. After ordering your food and drink, you’ll be able to see where your order is at on the ‘arrivals’ board, and watch as the vintage-style model trains pull in to the ‘station’ (aka: your table).
The food itself has mixed reviews – but as a bit of a steam train enthusiast, I think I’d go for the unique beer delivery alone!
Tour Prague’s micro-breweries
If the big players aren’t really your scene, the Czech Republic has a thriving craft beer scene. On a Prague microbrewery tour, you can visit three of Prague’s smaller breweries, with unlimited tastings included!

Pour your own pints at The Pub
This one was Ashley’s idea, as he’d been on a previous Prague trip! There’s something a little novelty in being able to pour your own drinks in a bar, and at The Pub, you do just that.
At each of the self-serve tables, taps at the centre allow you to pour from a selection of Pilsner Urquell beers. The screen at the top gives a running total of how much you’ve spent, so there’s no big shock when you go to pay at the end.
Yes, it’s a bit of a silly novelty, but it’s a fun activity to do with a group and a bit of a different way to manage your beer. We had a lots of fun seeing who could pour it the best…
If you want to try some more types of beer, you can also check out Beer Point – same self-serve concept, but more about the tasting!
Visit Dětenice Castle and Brewery
For a uniquely medieval evening out in Prague, get whisked away to the 13th-century Dětenice Castle, around 70km from Prague centre.
The experience includes a tour of the traditional Dětenice Brewery, followed by a medieval feast with entertainment and unlimited beer. Medieval banquets are pretty common in Eastern Europe, but the inclusion of the brewery tour makes this one a bit different and ideal for those who love their Czech beer history!
Play some beer pong
Okay, it’s probably more American than your traditional Prague beer experience. But if you’re looking for something a little different to do on your night out, a game of beer pong at Drunken Monkey is a great way to make new friends. Oh, and there’s unlimited beer on offer too…
I am absolutely TERRIBLE at beer pong, by the way.
