Gemini is coming to the Fitbit app for improved health insights

Google completed the acquisition of Fitbit back in January 2021 for $2.1 billion. Since the acquisition, Google has been using its expertise and technology for the betterment of its Pixel Watch. Earlier this year, the brand got a new name, followed by a recent migration to the Google Store. Now, Fitbit has announced a new initiative called “Fitbit Labs” which will help select users with their fitness and health data using Google Gemini.

Fitbit Labs “Insight Explorer” uses Google Gemini to help you with health and fitness data

According to the announcement, the Fitbit Labs program will allow select users to test experimental features and provide feedback. If you qualify, you should see the option “Insights Explorer” in the “You” tab of the Fitbit app. Upon tapping the “Try it now” option, you should be able to join the program immediately or sign up for a waitlist in case it is not available to you just yet.

It is worth noting that the “Insights Explorer” is the first project under the Fitbit Labs program. Once signed up, “Insights Explorer” will use Google Gemini to help you with your health and fitness data. You can ask Gemini to answer queries about health and fitness and it will analyze your Fitbit data to provide detailed insights.

These lab features are temporary and might require Fitbit Premium to try

Gemini will be able to help you understand the relation between different data and how your activity impacts your health in general. For example, you might be able to get an “interesting explanation” about how your daily activities impact your sleep quality. Gemini will also try to help you visualize the connection between two metrics using a chart, graph, etc.

That’s not all, Fitbit Labs might be used to test new features in the future. Fitbit will do so to integrate “Google’s latest AI innovations to consumer health.” Let’s not forget that the announcement post mentions that the Labs feature will be available for a short time.

Besides, you might require Fitbit Premium for you to enroll in the program. So, if you want Gemini to answer as many queries about your health and fitness data, make sure to sign up soon.
