10 Mukhi Rudraksha: Benefits, Power, and Significance

10 Mukhi Rudraksha is a holy bead used by Hindus in their spiritual practices. It is called so because it has 10 clefts/ cuts on its face. It is much revered by the Vaishnava (devotees of Lord Vishnu) community.
Story of 10 Mukhi Rudraksha
The 10 Mukhi Rudraksha is believed to have been created from the 10th teardrop of Lord Shiva. The Vishnu Purana says that Lord Shiva was meditating on Mt. Kailas and he felt upset, seeing the sufferings of human beings on Earth.
They needed help, but Shiva was in deep meditation, so he could not help them. Besides, he knew that his time on Earth was going to end, and he would not be present to remove people’s miseries.
His teardrops fell on the Kailas mountain and became the seeds of Rudraksha trees. The seeds were called Rudraksha. ‘Rudra’ is a name for Shiva, and ‘aksha’ means ‘tears’ in Sanskrit.
After completing his meditation, Shiva opened his eyes and explained to his disciples the benefits of Rudraksha seeds and how they could be planted.
Sama Veda says when Sage Bhasunda asked Lord Kalagni Rudra about Rudraksha, he told him everything he knew about them.
Shiva assigned each bead to a particular deity and to remedy specific problems faced by mankind. The 10 Mukhi Rudraksha was assigned to Lord Vishnu and his avatars, as he had taken 10 incarnations on Earth to help mankind.
Thus, the 10 Mukhi Rudraksha became the Rudraksha bead of Vishnu and became important for the Vaishnava community.
