Samsung rolls out the first software update for the Galaxy Ring

Samsung launched its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, at the Unpacked event held in July. Although it’s been quite some time since the device came out, we haven’t seen any software updates. If you have been waiting for an update, there’s good news. Samsung has reportedly started rolling out the first software update for the Galaxy Ring.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring receives its first software update with a few improvements

Today, folks over at SamMobile spotted a post on X by user @RydahDoesTech which mentioned the rollout of the first update for the Galaxy Ring. The publication reports the latest update has started rolling out initially in the USA. It should be noted that the first update comes with a firmware version Q50XWWU2AXH1.

Remember, it is a tiny update with a download size of just 0.64MB. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect a significant change coming to the Galaxy Ring with this software update. However, there are a few considerable details mentioned in the official changelog that are worth noting.

Per the official changelog, the Galaxy Ring’s first update brings improved wireless stability over Bluetooth. Also, the update brings in some Samsung Health improvements. While the changelog doesn’t detail these changes, we expect the update to offer improved performance, accuracy in fitness tracking, and fixes for Bluetooth connection drop, if any.

We might see a significant update further down the line

Let’s not forget that the Galaxy Ring is currently available in a few countries. Therefore, it is possible that the company could be working on a significant update to make the Galaxy Ring stable before making it available to the masses.

To catch you up, the Samsung Galaxy Ring (review) comes with multiple health and tracking features. This includes tracking your sleep duration and quality, heart rate, and workouts. You can sync all your fitness and health data with the Samsung Health app on your smartphones and tablets.

Besides, it comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The only caveat is that it lacks GPS which could affect the accuracy of the outdoor fitness tracking. Moreover, the Galaxy Ring is comfortable to wear even during your sleep.
